Order processing

Orders are processed within 1 to 2 business days, not counting weekends and holidays. Processing means we pick, pack and hand your order to the carrier.

Orders placed before 2:00 PM ET on a business day start processing the same day. Orders placed after that time, or on a weekend or holiday, start processing the next business day.

When your order ships, we will email you a shipping confirmation with a tracking number.

Shipping within the United States

We ship orders from the United States with USPS and UPS. The carrier and service available for your order are shown at checkout.

Estimated delivery times within the United States, once your order has shipped:

  • Standard: 3 to 5 business days
  • Expedited: 2 to 3 business days
  • Overnight: 1 business day

Delivery times are estimates from the carrier and are not guaranteed. Weather, carrier delays and high-volume periods can add time.

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your address, the shipping service and the size and weight of your order.

P.O. boxes and military addresses

We ship to P.O. boxes. Some services, such as certain express options, cannot deliver to a P.O. box; if your address is a P.O. box, choose a service that supports it at checkout.

We ship to APO, FPO and DPO military addresses through USPS. Delivery to these addresses can take longer than domestic estimates.

International shipping

We currently ship only within the United States. We do not ship to addresses outside the United States.

Tracking your order

Every order ships with a tracking number. You can follow your parcel with the link in your shipping confirmation email or on the carrier's website. Tracking can take up to one business day to show the first scan.

Address changes

Please check your shipping address carefully at checkout.

To change your address, email us at [your email address] as soon as possible. We can update it as long as your order has not shipped yet. Once an order has shipped, we cannot change the address.

We are not responsible for orders sent to an incorrect address entered at checkout. If a parcel comes back to us because of an incorrect or incomplete address, we will contact you to reship it, and a new shipping charge may apply.

Lost, stolen or damaged parcels

Lost parcels: if tracking has not updated for 7 business days, contact us at [your email address]. We will open a trace and file a claim with the carrier, and keep you updated. We will work with you on a replacement or refund based on the outcome.

Damaged parcels: if your order arrives damaged, email us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and photos of the item and the packaging. Please keep the packaging until the issue is resolved, since the carrier may need to inspect it.

Parcels marked delivered but not received: first check around your property, with neighbors and with your local carrier office. If you still cannot find it after 2 days, contact us at [your email address] and we will file a claim with the carrier and help you resolve it.

Holidays and peak season

During holidays and peak seasons, order volume and carrier delays can add time to both processing and delivery. We do not process or ship orders on public holidays.

Returns

To return or exchange an item, see our Returns Policy.

why it matters

A shipping policy sells, not just protects.

Buyers read your shipping policy to decide whether to order: how much shipping costs, when the parcel arrives, and what happens if something goes wrong. A clear policy answers those questions before they become support emails or refund requests.

Marketplaces and ad platforms look for it too. Shopify gives every store a shipping policy page. Etsy shows processing and delivery times on each listing. On Amazon, the delivery dates buyers see come from your shipping settings, so your own store's policy should say the same thing. Google Merchant Center asks for shipping costs and delivery times and checks that they match your website, so a vague or outdated policy can hold back your product listings.

what to include

  1. Processing time and cut-off

How long it takes to pack an order, and the time of day after which orders roll to the next business day.

  2. Carriers, services and delivery estimates

Which carriers you use and how long each service usually takes once the parcel ships.

  3. Shipping costs and free shipping

How shipping is charged and any order value that qualifies for free shipping.

  4. International orders and duties

Where you ship, and who pays import duties and taxes: the buyer on delivery, or you at checkout.

  5. Address changes and delivery problems

What happens with a wrong address, and how you handle lost, stolen or damaged parcels.

  6. A link to your returns policy

Buyers and marketplaces look for both. Keep them consistent.

faq

Shipping policy questions.

Do I need a shipping policy for my online store?

In most cases, yes. Buyers check it before they order, and it answers the questions that would otherwise reach your inbox. Platforms expect one too: Shopify has a dedicated shipping policy page, Etsy shows shipping details on every listing, and Google Merchant Center asks for shipping costs and delivery times that match what your website says.

Is this shipping policy template legally binding?

The generator writes a template based on your answers. It is not legal advice. Laws and marketplace rules differ by country, state and platform, so review the text, edit it to match how you actually ship, and ask a lawyer if you are unsure.

Is what I type saved or sent anywhere?

No. The policy is built in your browser as you type. Nothing is sent to ExperShip or stored on our servers. If you leave the page, the form resets.

How do I add the policy to Shopify?

Choose the HTML or plain text format, copy it, and paste it into the shipping policy field in your Shopify admin under Settings, then Policies. Shopify then links it from your store footer and checkout.

What is the difference between DDU and DDP for international orders?

With DDU (delivered duty unpaid), the buyer pays import duties and taxes when the parcel arrives, usually to the carrier. With DDP (delivered duty paid), duties and taxes are collected at checkout and the seller pays them, so the buyer has nothing more to pay on delivery. DDP usually means fewer refused parcels and surprised buyers.

How often should I update my shipping policy?

Whenever something in it changes: a new carrier, new delivery estimates, a new free shipping threshold, or new countries you ship to. It is also worth a check before the holiday season, when processing and transit times often get longer.
