Regional carrier

A parcel carrier that serves a specific part of a country, often with lower rates or faster ground transit inside its area.

A regional carrier delivers parcels within a defined geographic area, such as the West Coast, the Midwest or the Northeast, rather than nationwide. Inside their coverage, regional carriers can offer competitive rates, fast ground delivery and later pickup times.

Sellers usually add regional carriers alongside national carriers rather than replacing them, routing each package to whichever carrier serves its destination best. Multi-carrier shipping software makes that routing practical.
