Pick and pack
The fulfillment steps of retrieving ordered items from storage and packing them into a box ready for shipping.
Pick and pack describes the core work of order fulfillment. Picking is collecting the right items and quantities for an order from their storage locations. Packing is checking the items, choosing a box, protecting the contents and sealing the package.
Warehouses use different picking methods, such as single-order, batch, zone and wave picking, depending on order volume and product mix. After packing comes labeling and handoff to the carrier, which is why the full process is often called pick, pack and ship.
