End of day (close-out)

The daily step of closing out a carrier's shipments and transmitting the manifest before pickup.

End of day, or close-out, is the process of finalizing all shipments created for a carrier that day. The shipping system transmits the shipment data and generates any manifest or pickup documents the carrier requires.

Some carriers or services need a close-out before packages are picked up, while for others the step is optional. Shipping software usually lets sellers run end of day per carrier or schedule it automatically.
